Berwick Academy's Graduate Teacher Training Program (GTT)
Apply today to begin in June!
Teaching Apprentice positions available in all three divisions (Prek - Grade 12)
Want to earn your M.Ed. while teaching? Consider Berwick Academy and Lesley University’s Teaching Apprentice Program (TAP) which offers a purposeful blend of hands-on teaching experiences and graduate courses.
Each Berwick Academy teaching apprentice works under the guidance of experienced faculty mentors from late August until June. Throughout the year each TA has two different teaching placements where they build lasting connections with students and colleagues. The TAs recieve weekly feedback from their mentor teacher and the program director. In addition, the cohort of TAs meet for weekly seminars where they learn about teaching strategies and discuss classroom experiences.
Berwick TAs are also active participants in the wider Berwick Academy community: developing lesson plans, participating in parent - teacher confernces, attending faculty meetings, participating in professional development opportunities and/or coaching athletic teams.
Berwick's teaching apprentices develop the knowledge and skills essential for successful teaching while earning legitimate work experience at one of New England’s finest independent schools. The program will begin in June, and is open to aspiring educators in the elementary, middle, and high school levels (PK-12).
Application Process: Submit a resume and personal statement to Alice Lynch at Berwick Academy to begin the application process. Applications are accepted from November to April, with three application rounds (12/14/16, 2/27/17 and 4/24/17). Applicants are encouraged to submit all materials and visit campus as soon as possible.
