Christchurch School seeks candidates for the position of Spanish instructor. Our Spanish department features an innovative curriculum in which students take self-paced Spanish I and II classes, and then choose from a menu of elective options in their pursuit of higher level Spanish. The person in this position will teach a normal course load of four classes, and should expect to contribute outside the classroom by coaching or activity sponsorship and by taking part in rotating dormitory supervision.

Qualified candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Spanish or a related field, and ideally have experience abroad. Strong candidates will also have coaching experience. Interest in and experience with methods of differentiated instruction and the meaningful use of technology in instruction are important, as is interest in teaching students with a wide variety of learning styles and ability levels. Finally, candidates should be realistic and excited about the challenges and rewards of teaching and living in a boarding school.

We are forty-five minutes from Williamsburg (home of the College of William and Mary), and one hour from both Richmond and the Hampton Roads area. With a student population of 200 and a teaching faculty of 30, the atmosphere on campus is collegial, friendly, personal, and above all, community-oriented.
70% of faculty members and their families live on campus, where housing includes utilities. Faculty families are welcome for all regular meals when school is in session. Resident and non-resident members of the faculty participate in the full life of the school-from morning assembly and chapel to classroom and after-school activities, athletics, residential life oversight and weekend activities, as well as special events and awards ceremonies.
The standard load carried by faculty members is 4 classes, 2 co-curricular seasons, and rotating dorm duty.
