Interested candidates must enjoy working in a highly communal organization while serving as the sole Latin teacher in the Middle School and working collaboratively with the Upper School Latin teacher. The candidate should have a history of evaluating student progress and offering individualized help to meet student needs. We encourage educational travel opportunities and service learning in the local community. The position also entails serving as an advisor to a small group of Middle School students while keeping track of each advisee’s progress through ongoing communication with teachers and families.
Other qualifications include the following: • Demonstrates an exemplary command of Latin and a broad knowledge of teaching strategies to support language acquisition • Incorporates a wide-range of assessment practices • Evaluates student progress, differentiates for individual learning styles and provides individualized assistance as appropriate to meet student needs • Maintains a high level of organization in order to balance the teaching demands within a hybrid, block schedule
Interested candidates will enjoy working with a professional and collaborative faculty that strives to provide each child with an opportunity to explore and grow his or her whole self. Candidates must have a strong background in the subject being taught, be willing to work in a team environment, have a deep respect for Middle School students, and be willing to contribute to the extracurricular programming of the school.
Interested candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Latin or Classics (or related experience and education). A Master’s degree and teaching experience are preferred but not required. Holland Hall’s Middle School is a One-to-One program with iPads. Comfort with technology and its integration to accelerate student learning is key to the school’s current focus.
