The Berkeley Carroll School is seeking a full-time learning specialist to join our Middle/Upper School Center for Learning Strategies. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience working as a learning specialist in a rigorous academic environment. Candidates must be well versed in the language and assessment tools used in psycho-educational evaluations and must demonstrate a nuanced understanding of executive functioning and its role in student achievement. Experience handling College Board and ACT accommodations is a plus; an advanced degree in special education, psychology, or a related discipline is required. The successful candidate will:
- help students in grades 5-12 develop effective techniques for planning/prioritizing, organizing materials, preparing for assessments, and sustaining attention.
- collaborate with parents, teachers, and outside professionals to implement appropriate supports and accommodations.
- interpret the results of psycho-educational evaluations for teachers, parents, and students; help develop individualized learning plans for students based on findings.
- provide consultation and push-in support to teachers as needed.
