Job Title: MIDDLE SCHOOL HISTORY TEACHER

Reports to: Head of Middle School
Candidates should have a strong academic background in history and/or social studies. Two or more years of Middle School teaching experience, a Master’s degree, and a background in interdisciplinary curriculum or integrated studies are preferred but not required.
Duties & Responsibilities
A deep familiarity with the developmental and learning needs of Middle School children
Ability to teach a range of social studies topics including global studies and United States History
Proficiency with a range of technologies and the ability to use them to enhance the teaching and learning of history
Serving as an advisor to students
The desire to continue learning in the discipline by reading and implementing ideas from professional journals, attending workshops and conferences, taking courses, and collaborating with colleagues
Additionally, successful candidates should demonstrate:

an affinity for collaborative curriculum development
an engaging teaching style
the ability to build partnerships with parents and colleagues
the ability to create and promote an inclusive learning environment
the ability to contribute to the larger school community through coaching or sponsoring other extracurricular programs
enthusiasm, flexibility, and a cooperative spirit
Ability to engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; sitting and standing for long periods of time; ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified.
