The Director of Admissions and Financial Aid will be responsible for the overall day-to- day operations of a vibrant office, with three admissions officers and an administrative assistant. The Director will be responsible for working with the entire Forman community to aid in the admissions and retention process.
As a member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid will not only be an advocate for enrollment, he or she will also be engaged with issue that influence school life and have an impact of faculty/staff, students and their families. Specific responsibilities include:
Oversee the program of admissions of new students to the school.
Present the school to prospective students and parents, which includes systematic and efficient handling of applications and communication with candidates and their parents; interviews with candidates and their parents; arrangements for educational testing; securing of necessary student credentials; and communicating final decisions to the appropriate individuals.
Oversee the admission office, creation of the admissions budget, and appropriate admissions and marketing materials, mailings and publications.
Advise and consult with the Head of School on all aspects of admissions and the school life.
Develop new programs and initiatives to attract and retain qualified students.
Organize and administer, with the head of school, the Financial Aid Committee, the program for scholarships and financial aid.
Evaluate continually and redesign where appropriate all aspects of the admissions and marketing program with the goal of maintaining a capacity enrollment of qualified students and a wait-list of qualified applicants.
Personally demonstrate the persistence, insistence, and consistence necessary to inspire positive behavior.
Actively promote and teach the faculty and staff about school admissions and the admissions process.
Proactively communicate with prospective and current parents.
Liaison to the Parents Executive Committee on issues concerning admissions.
Assist in the management of the re-enrollment of current students for the succeeding year.
Oversee the network of parents, former parents and alumni to assist in the admissions program.
Be a regular presence in classrooms, dorms, playing fields, and around the general campus promoting a positive school culture.
Keep relevant statistics on all aspects of the admission and re-enrollment program and ensure the Head of School is regularly updated on enrollment issues.
Represent the school at various gatherings and conferences.
Act as a member of various ad hoc and standing committees as necessary.
Support the school and its leadership.
Act as a leader in the field of best practices in admissions, boarding schools, and LD education.
Perform other duties as assigned by the head of school.
Bachelor degree required, Master degree preferred.
Five years of experience as a Director of Admissions required.
