Interlochen Arts Academy seeks an experienced and innovative educator with a passion for the arts and academics to fill the position of Assistant Vice President-Academy Programs. With a focus on the curriculum and pedagogy of the arts and academic programs, this position includes a number of important responsibilities, all tied to providing the best education program possible for all students grades 9 through a post-graduate year.
The Assistant Vice President is, first and foremost, responsible for curricular innovation, building the important partnerships and coalitions of faculty and leadership around those important new directions critical for quality education. This person is also responsible for linking the results of the annual evaluation and assessment of faculty to the creation of programs and experiences that meet the collective professional growth needs of faculty and education staff.
The Assistant Vice President also oversees the academic and college counseling program and the newly formed ACE (Academic Center for Enrichment), which, along with the Learning Specialist and various teachers and staff, provides support for students encountering individual challenges with their educational program. In addition, the Assistant Vice President will have the opportunity to design and implement a new student advisor system that will be put into place this coming year including overseeing the individuals who plan the program, curriculum and activities of the advisor system as well as the training of the faculty and staff who will be advisors.
The creation of the master schedule for the Academy each year is also the responsibility of this position, as it is the vehicle that provides the time for the aforementioned important programs. In the summer months, this position organizes and oversees the SAT Prep course offered in the summer, and will be involved in the potential creation of a summer ESL offering. And, this position is also responsible for maintaining and growing external partnerships with domestic and international organizations, a key strategic initiative of Interlochen.
The Assistant Vice President-Academy programs reports to the Vice President for Education Programs and works closely with the Vice President and Executive Dean of Student Affairs, the Assistant Vice President for Camp Programs, the Academic and Arts Division Directors and the full Academy faculty.
