Beaver Country Day School, grades 6-12, in Chestnut Hill, MA, seeks a dynamic Middle School Science Teacher. Primary responsibilities include teaching MS science courses; the 6th grade course is The Science of Place, the 7th grade course is The Science of Self, and the 8th grade course is Current Global Issues in Science. Additional responsibilities extend outside the classroom to include advising and involvement in student life.
Beaver puts an emphasis on project-based learning through a collaborative, inquiry-based approach, where open-ended experimentation and design play a significant role in the science classroom. Competitive candidates will demonstrate content expertise, knowledge in differentiated instruction and assessment, willingness and ability to collaborate on designing and implementing innovative pedagogical initiatives, including technology, that focus on a student-first, hands-on, experiential learning. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and management skills are essential to the role, as is a willingness to participate fully in the community beyond the classroom.
