The Calhoun School, a progressive, coeducational day school serving 750 students from early childhood through 12th grade, is seeking a full-time Upper School Mathematics teacher to begin in August 2017. The Upper School Mathematics teacher will report to Director of Upper School.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS
Preparation of lesson plans and teaching of Upper School Mathematics to students in grades nine to twelve.
Expertise in, and demonstrated ability to teach Multivariable Calculus, Single Variable Calculus, and Algebra II.
Ability to teach Probability and Statistics preferred.
Provision of differentiated instruction, and ability to teach students with varying learning styles.
Creation of a positive and constructive learning environment for students.
Assessment and evaluation of each student’s performance in accordance with curriculum expectations.
Providing ongoing feedback for student improvement.
Maintenance of student progress reports according to school policies.
Documentation of attendance, grades and maintenance of other pertinent records.
Collaboration with colleagues to share best practices and ensure student progress.
Attendance at staff meetings and conferences as needed.
Maintenance of consistent relationships with families, including phone calls, emails and conferences.
Participation in parent/teachers meetings.
Strong commitment to, belief in, and alignment with Calhoun’s mission and values.
Ability to serve as an academic adviser to a small group of students.
High level of professionalism.
Expertise in Multivariable and Single Variable Calculus, as well as Algebra II.
Interest in working in a progressive and humanistic school with a focus on experiential and place based teaching and learning.

Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
High school teaching experience; independent school teaching experience preferred.
