Baltimore Lab School (BLS) is an innovative learning community fostering scholarship and creativity in students with a variety of learning disabilities and ADHD. In an environment of inquiry and hands-on exploration, BLS students learn to advocate for themselves as they become engaged and compassionate members of a global society.
The Baltimore Lab School seeks a certified Reading Specialist, for the 2017-2018 school year, responsible for screening and analyzing student data gathering from diagnostic and prescriptive assessments and progress monitoring to determine student profile needs and make instructional placement decisions. The Reading Specialist will plan and provide direct explicit reading intervention to students using multisensory techniques aimed at targeting specific reading needs of the individual student. In addition, the Reading Specialist will support the overall school literacy program through collaboration with classroom teachers and other service providers.

- Master’s degree or post baccalaureate certificate in a Reading Specialist program
- Valid teacher’s certificate in the area of Reading Specialist, or in the process of having an application for certification reviewed by the Maryland State Department of Education. Additional endorsement/certification in the area of Generic Special Education highly preferred.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, a variety of research based reading programs and assessments
- Working knowledge and implementation of IEPs and participation in IEP meetings
