Director of Studies/Curriculum, Division Head/Principal
The Dalton School seeks a Middle School Assistant Director. This role focuses primarily on 4th, 5th, & 6th grades and incorporates all aspects of administrative leadership including: teacher support and evaluation, parent communications, student discipline, curriculum development, and special projects. We seek a leader with expertise in middle school curriculum and instruction, as well as an appreciation for and understanding of the social and emotional development of children in grades 4-8. Candidates should be committed to and knowledgeable about progressive education, differentiated instruction, and innovative pedagogy.
We seek candidates with the following:
Ability to interact effectively and positively with students, parents, faculty, and staff
Dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning and work environment
Exceptional organizational and communication skills
Deep knowledge of current educational research, theory and best practices
Demonstrated experience with team-building and collaborative leadership
Interest and experience in developing transdisciplinary/design thinking and social-emotional learning-related programs and curriculum
Flexibility, optimism, and a sense of humor
A minimum of five years of teaching and administrative leadership experience in schools is required; a graduate degree is preferred.
