Shorecrest is seeking an accomplished and student-centered World History teacher. The ideal candidate will be comfortable teaching 10th grade AP World History and 9th Grade Global Studies. There could also be a possibility for teaching a post-AP History or Interdisciplinary elective. The candidate will have a strong grounding in the study of history, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to student learning and development. We welcome candidates who are interested in serving as the Department Chair. As Chair, the individual will lead curriculum review and development, assist in teacher evaluation and training, and serve on the Upper School Curriculum Council.
At least 3 years experience teaching high school history courses. Additional experience expected for Chair position.
Bachelor’s degree in subject area required; a Master’s or Doctoral degree is preferred.
Experience leading seminar-style discussions and a strong commitment to the teaching of historical research and writing.
Collaborative and engaged member of the faculty who is committed to curriculum design, teacher growth, and best practices for student learning.
Enthusiasm for embracing the independent school model of mentoring, advising and supporting students outside of the classroom.
Demonstrates a high degree of cultural competency and a commitment to a community that values equity, diversity and inclusion
