Title: Second Grade Classroom Head Teacher for the 2017-2018 School Year
Requirements: Master’s Degree or equivalent in teaching or Bachelor’s Degree in Education with significant successful experience in an independent school classroom.
Reports to: Lower School Division Head
Primary Responsibilities: The ideal candidate is familiar with 21st century, differentiated instruction and child development, keeps current with the latest research in educational trends, and is comfortable using technology in a classroom setting. Collaboration with colleagues to design experiences for students and communication and partnership with parents are vital. Renbrook is a Responsive Classroom school; numeracy instruction utilizes Singapore Math; literacy skills are taught and practiced using Writers’ and Readers’ Workshop models of instruction.
Hours/Classification: Full Time, Exempt
Teach with an understanding of the growth and development of Lower School children
Provide instruction in language arts, mathematics, social studies, social/emotional
Assume primary responsibility for instruction and care for a homeroom
Work collaboratively with co-teachers to provide small group instruction
Implement curricula as identified in the Curriculum Guide
Communicate and collaborate with other faculty and staff regarding each student
Assess student progress using a variety of methods
Communicate regularly with parents about the program and student progress including parent conferences, progress reports, open house events or curriculum showcases
Attend Student Support Team meetings for collaborative discussions and sharing of student concerns
Identify materials, resources and technology needs for program
Include use of appropriate technology tools and resources for instruction
Participate actively in faculty meetings, admissions and other school events
Pursue relevant opportunities for professional growth and development
Supervise students in other roles such as recess, lunch, field trips, etc.
Perform other duties consistent with the above responsibilities
Salary is commensurate upon experience.
