La Salle Academy (Providence, RI), founded in 1871, is an Independent Catholic co-educational college preparatory school accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges under the direction of the De La Salle Christian Brothers. Current enrollment is 1,351 for the High School and 200 for the Middle School for a total enrollment of 1,551.
La Salle’s Office of Institutional Advancement is currently seeking a Director of Major Gifts to assist the President and related staff to develop a pipeline of major gift donors and build a culture of philanthropy as we prepare to launch a comprehensive capital campaign.
The Director of Major Gifts will work collaboratively with the President, Vice President, and other members of the advancement team, and board leadership to engage potential donors in meaningful cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities.
Collaboration is an expectation of our work, and therefore the Director of Major Gifts will be an excellent relationship builder who has the demonstrated ability to work with others to achieve ambitious, matrix-driven goals. In addition to working with donors and volunteers, the director of Major Gifts will closely partner with the President and Advancement team to confirm funding priorities and ensure appropriate stewardship.
Meet monthly activity goals
Using multiple sources including research, volunteer referrals, annual giving data, wealth screening, board referrals and other means, the Director of Major Gifts will identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward potential major gift prospects.
Make calls to qualified donors who have given at low/mid-levels, and determine interest and engagement in La Salle.
Work collaboratively with the President, Vice President of Advancement and Board members to move donor/prospects.
Adhere to prospect management and tracking guidelines, including regular entries into Raiser’s Edge.
Work closely with the annual and potential planned giving efforts of the advancement program.
Participate in Advancement Committee meetings and Board updates, as requested.
Successfully represent La Salle Academy to constituents and the community
Education, Training and Experience Required:
Minimum 5-7 years of professional fundraising experience
Major gift experience and track record
Demonstrated ability to initiate and develop relationships
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self-directed, collaborative team player.
