The Williams School, an independent school serving students from kindergarten through eighth grade in Norfolk, Virginia, is currently seeking an experienced fundraising professional for the position of Director of Development. The Director of Development of The Williams School is responsible for developing and maintaining active and productive relationships with key constituents of the school including board members, donors, administration, faculty, parents, past parents, and friends. The Director shall work in a highly collaborative manner with his/her development staff and the school administration.
Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years, preferably 5 years, professional fundraising experience, with preference for experience in an independent school environment; a proven track record of fundraising success, particularly in the area of securing major gifts; a history of successfully managing campaigns, and engaging a community of motivated supporters is required. In addition, proven experience in designing and managing development and alumni relations programs, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work as a leader and as part of a team and a deep appreciation and understanding of the school’s mission and the ability to articulate its values and vision internally and externally are also important to this position.
