Upper School History Chair
Berkeley Carroll is a Pre-K through grade 12 college preparatory school of 968 students located in the Park Slope section of New York City. Our vibrant intellectual community draws students from all over the city, admission to the school is competitive, and both our parents and students value achievement.
The school seeks an experienced history teacher with a strong background in American history, together with a broad understanding of global, and specifically non-Western, history, to chair our history department. The position includes teaching our 11th grade American Studies course, in addition to 9th grade Modern World History and 10th or 12th grade electives in global and American history.
The ideal candidate will bring a vision for the curricular arc of a high school history department grounded in strong content knowledge, and experience in curriculum design. An advanced degree and previous experience leading colleagues are assets. We expect all candidates to love teaching high school students and to have an interest in participating in the life of our Upper School community.
