St. Paul Academy and Summit School seeks candidates for a Middle School English Teacher. This is a part-time position (0.4 FTE) beginning in August, 2017. Successful candidates should possess the ability to teach English at the middle school level (grades 6-8) and have experience instructing students in both creative and expository writing. Candidates should bring enthusiasm for teaching in the Reading/Writing Workshop model.
Candidates should demonstrate the ability to create developmentally appropriate curricula, establish a supportive and engaging classroom environment for students, and work collaboratively with colleagues and parents/guardians. Successful candidates will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. In addition, candidates should be able to advise students effectively and otherwise contribute to the life of the school outside the classroom. Training and experience in Developmental Designs for Middle School preferred. Candidates should support the mission of SPA and the vision of the Middle School.
Successful candidates may have the opportunity to serve as an academic tutor and substitute teacher as needed as a way of supplementing compensation.
