St. Paul Academy and Summit School seeks candidates for the position of Middle School Science Teacher. This is a part-time position (0.6 FTE) beginning in August, 2017. Candidates should bring experience teaching and engaging middle school students across all foundational science content areas, including Life Science, Earth Science and Physical Science in addition to a strong academic background in these fields. Training and experience working with middle school students in computer science and robotics preferred.
Candidates should demonstrate the ability to create developmentally appropriate curricula, establish a supportive and engaging classroom environment for students, and work collaboratively with colleagues and parents/guardians. Successful candidates will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. In addition, candidates should be able to advise students effectively and otherwise contribute to the life of the school outside the classroom. Training and experience in Developmental Designs for Middle School preferred. Candidates should support the mission of SPA and the vision of the Middle School.
Successful candidates may have the opportunity to serve as an academic tutor and substitute teacher as needed as a way of supplementing compensation.
