Convent of the Sacred Heart is New York City's oldest independent school for girls, educating students in Pre-K through 12. Convent of the Sacred Heart is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Upper School Latin Teacher starting late August 2017 for a full-time position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Teaching 4 to 5 classes from Latin I to AP.
Organizing the yearly Latin National Contest for the Upper School.
Supervising the writing of articles (pertaining to Latin themes) for publication in the school newspaper
Providing academic support for students outside of class time (answering homework questions, consulting with them about their work, etc.) as needed
Collaborating and participating actively in the work of the Department on innovative curriculum development and assessment
Attending meetings with the department, the faculty and parents
Advising 8 to 10 Upper School students
Participating actively in the life of the school community, which includes assuming at least one additional out of the classroom duty, such as advising a student club, joining a standing committee, or coaching.
The ideal candidate has:
A Masters degree
Five years of teaching experience
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communications skills
A positive attitude with a desire to contribute and share his/her gifts and talents with the High School students and administration of the school.
Strong proficiency with current educational technology
