Greenhills School, a 6-12 coeducational independent school, seeks a dynamic middle school math teacher for the 2017-2018 academic year. Our math department welcomes applicants committed to providing students with a problem-based curriculum that utilizes innovative materials, appropriate technology, and creative pedagogy to provide a thorough, rigorous, and standards-based program to our students.
The successful candidate will have a degree in mathematics or mathematics education, experience teaching math in a college prep-environment, and a desire to collaborate with department members who view teaching math as a cooperative and stimulating enterprise. In addition, this candidate will display a passion for working with middle school students. Candidates who have experience with computer programming, with Geometer’s Sketchpad or similar dynamic drawing software, and with statistics and statistical software are especially encouraged to apply.
Other contractual duties will include those expected of independent school teachers. These duties will be composed of some of the following responsibilities: advising, coaching, co-curricular work, team meetings, chaperoning, committee work, and the general supervision of students. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching in 6-12 settings. Undergraduate and/or graduate work in the subject field is required. Teachers with the appropriate educational background and two or more years of teaching experience are encouraged to apply.
