The Assistant Director of Admission will assist in all aspects of admission responsibilities: recruitment, marketing, selection, and enrollment. The successful candidate will be joining a highly collaborative office, and will be an innovative thinker who can operate both independently and as part of a team.
Candidates should be prepared to develop marketing strategies to attract applicants to the school. The ability to manage multiple projects and communicate progress appropriately is essential. S/he should be comfortable utilizing technology and databases. The candidate should also have excellent organizational, time management and communication skills. S/he must possess the interpersonal skills to relate and interact with adolescents, their parents, placement professionals, and the faculty and staff of Portsmouth Abbey School. The candidate must possess the willingness to travel frequently at times and work nights/weekends throughout the recruitment cycle. S/he will be expected to represent and promote Portsmouth Abbey School in a positive and professional manner. In addition to joining the admission team, the candidate must be genuinely interested in participating in the responsibilities that are associated with a boarding school (school events, advising, athletics, and residential life) and embrace the mission of the school.
Founded in 1926 and owned by the Order of St. Benedict, Portsmouth Abbey School is New England’s premier co-educational, Catholic, Benedictine boarding and day school. Admission to Portsmouth is selective and the school is fully enrolled with 360 boys and girls. The magnificent campus is ideally situated on the shores of Narragansett Bay with easy access of Newport, Providence, and Boston.
Prior admission and/or marketing experience and a familiarity with boarding schools are preferred. A bachelor's degree is required.
