Located in beautiful Cheshire, Connecticut, Cheshire Academy is home to 437 students, grades 9 to PG. Over 60 percent of the students are boarders, with 37 percent coming from 34 different countries. Founded in 1794, Cheshire is the only independent school in Connecticut to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The school is seeking a Director of Admission who will play a lead role in ensuring that Cheshire Academy continues to identify and attract talented students from around the world. Leading a staff of seven, the Director of Admission is a member of the senior management team, and provides leadership and strategic direction on issues related to student recruitment, admissions, enrollment management, and financial aid. The Director of Admission works closely with the Head, marketing and communications, and senior faculty, and brings a strong business orientation to the role, along with outstanding communications skills.
The ideal candidate will be an inspiring leader and mentor with several years of experience in an admissions, sales, or talent acquisition environment. With a track record of providing strategic direction and service delivery, the new Director will possess strong stakeholder relations experience, excellent planning and analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work collegially with a dedicated and deeply committed faculty and staff.
While she/he might come from either the private sector or the broader public sector, the ideal candidate will have knowledge of, or experience in, independent schools, a proven track record of providing transformational leadership, and the ability to inspire and encourage others in a dynamic environment.
