Responsibilities and Competencies The successful candidate will be a master educator who displays passion for teaching History and Social Studies; other responsibilities and competencies include:
Teaching 5 sections of History/Social Studies courses. Courses will include sections of World History and American Government, but teaching assignment could be modified, depending on the unique qualifications of the candidate
Connecting with students, challenging them, and working with students with diverse backgrounds and perspectives
Advising 10-12 students and facilitating the integration of our “Lead from Here” curriculum
Demonstrating effective technology skills, including the ability to use our learning management system (Veracross)
Serving on committees and/or leading an active student club or coaching
Demonstrating a growth mindset and the ability to receive feedback, adapt to different learners’ needs, and become a valued colleague in a strong and cohesive department
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in History/Social Studies or History/Social Studies Education; MA in History/Social Studies or MEd in History/Social Studies highly desirable; broad-based coursework in History/Social Studies preferred; experience teaching History/Social Studies required. Special preference will be given to candidates with significant teaching experience in the discipline and/or those with a unique and compelling vision of how to engage students in the pursuit of historical thinking.
