Holton-Arms School invites applications for the position of 6th Grade Homeroom / Language Arts Teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. The school seeks candidates who have a keen ability both to challenge students to reach new potentials, and to provide the nurturing support and positive learning environment that students need. Professionalism, flexibility, and excellent communication skills with colleagues, parents, and students are highly valued at the School. The candidate also should have at least 3-5 years elementary school experience in developing a language arts curriculum. Experience with Responsive Classroom is preferred. In addition, the successful candidate will work with the 6th grade team to develop an authentic, student centered, interdisciplinary program for students. Collegiality and an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues on advancing the school’s strategic initiatives are essential.
At Holton-Arms, our students learn to be active and thoughtful readers and effective and eloquent writers as well as skilled speakers. Our language arts program is designed to foster a love of reading and writing and to give students the tools they need to be both knowledgeable consumers of written information and successful communicators of ideas. Successful candidates will have Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Elementary Education, and will be able to contribute to the school's extracurricular programs. The 6th grade language arts teacher teaches 4 sections of 15 students, 60 students in total).
