A lower school teacher is able to successfully plan, organize and implement a comprehensive instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The teacher engages students in critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity as the foundation for instruction. Maclay strives to be a child-centered school, thus, this teacher will tirelessly seek to find ways to make concepts taught in the class approachable, understandable, and attainable for all learners at Maclay. A lower school teacher demonstrates enthusiasm, flexibility and the ability to work successfully with teams of teachers. The preferred qualifications for the teaching position are a minimum of three years of successful teaching in an independent school environment, an elementary teaching certification and a master’s degree in the elementary field. Maclay School is a private, independent, non-sectarian college preparatory school located on 100 beautiful acres in northeast Leon County, Florida, about ten miles north of the state capitol building. A group of parents found...ed the school in 1968 naming it in memory of Alfred B. Maclay, Jr., a World War II veteran whose mother was a major benefactor.
