United Nations International School (UNIS) in New York seeks a Tutorial House (High School) Assistant Principal.
The United Nations International School (UNIS) was established in 1947 by a group of United Nations parents to provide an international education for their children, while preserving their diverse cultural heritages. What began as a nursery school for 20 children quickly grew, adding grades, students and faculty. The first 12th grade class graduated in 1964. Today, UNIS enrolls 1600 students on two campuses, one in Queens holding K-8 and one in Manhattan housing K-12. At the 9th grade level, UNIS Queens students may automatically transfer to the Manhattan Campus. UNIS is chartered by the New York Board of Regents as an independent, not-for profit school and is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS).
The position requires an educational leader, with a highly developed level of interpersonal empathy. The successful candidate will be able to navigate complex cultures, and demonstrate an international mindset. He/she will bring a rich experience with national and international curricular frameworks. Personal attributes expected include self-motivation, the ability to think both strategically and tactically, and the flexibility to successfully work within a diverse and demanding school environment.
