The History Department is responsible for the history education of students in grades 9 - 12. The courses taught by the History Department include African-American, American, Early World, European, Modern World, and World History, as well as several elective classes. History teachers are responsible for supervising students both in and out of the classroom; maintaining up-to-date teaching techniques that provide students with a quality educational experience; monitoring the performance of their students; and coordinating with administrators, other teachers, and parents.
The ideal candidate will have training/experience teaching courses in ancient and modern world history with a focus on two or more of the following areas: Asia, Africa, the Near/Middle East, and Meso/Latin America. Candidates should be comfortable teaching with an emphasis on primary sources, developing analytical research paper skills, and adapting classroom instruction to various learning styles. Teachers are expected to work independently and prepare for their own courses, but will also collaborate with members of their department, colleagues in other departments, staff, administrators, and faculty of the University.
All teachers are expected to perform in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and are expected to work the required 178 days or days as stipulated in that agreement.

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in History or closely related field.
Master's degree in History or closely related field preferred. Coursework or degree that reflects multicultural content preferred.
Two years of teaching experience required.
Experience teaching courses or subject areas in two or more of the following: ancient and modern Asia, Africa, the Near/Middle East, and Meso/Latin America.
Experience working with a wide range of students with diverse backgrounds such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, learning abilities, class, language and nationality preferred.
