Founded in 1930, St. George’s School (Saints) is one of Canada’s premier boys’ schools, and aspires to be a world leader in the education of boys. Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Advancement is a key member of St. George’s Senior Leadership Team and will serve on the Advancement Committee of the School’s Board of Governors. The Director provides leadership and management to a dedicated team across the portfolios of major gifts, annual giving, special events, and alumni relations. The School is in the final stages of a $40 million dollar capital campaign, and is now beginning the planning for the next phase, which will begin later this year. This will be a key focus for the Director of Advancement, as they will provide overall leadership and strategic direction to the next campaign. They will also serve as an ambassador for St. George’s School, both within the School and to the broader community, demonstrating the role and importance of advancement and community relations, and advancing the mission and reputation of Saints. The Director also plays a key role in alumni relations, through working closely with the School’s Old Boy Association.
The ideal candidate is a successful fundraiser with a proven track record of proactively increasing philanthropic revenue, and deep experience in capital campaigns. They will bring a record of success in securing major gifts from within a sophisticated, complex, multi-stakeholder environment. They will be a strong leader and mentor, and have a talent for encouraging team members to reach their full potential, while ensuring deadlines and revenue targets are met. The new Director of Advancement will possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills, and have the ability to connect with all of the many stakeholders who make up the St. George’s School community.
