Shorecrest is seeking an accomplished and student-centered Upper SchoolEnglish Teacher. The ideal candidate will have a strong grounding in the study of literature, the ability to teach a variety of levels of English in the Upper School, and a commitment to student learning and development. The position may include the opportunity to develop and teach advanced level English and/or Interdisciplinary electives. Shorecrest teachers also act as academic advisors to 10-12 students each year, and either sponsor a Shorecrest club and/or help coach an athletic team.
Ideally, at least 3 years high school teaching experience.
Bachelor’s degree in English required; Master’s degree preferred.
Strong background in both classical and modern literature.
Experience leading seminar-style discussions and a strong commitment to the teaching of writing.
Adept at integrating technology into the classroom
Collaborative and engaged member of the faculty who is committed to curriculum design, teacher growth, and best practices for student learning.
Enthusiasm for embracing the independent school model of mentoring, advising and supporting students outside of the classroom.
