SPA seeks candidates for the position of Lower School (LS) Literacy Support Specialist. The goal of the LS Literacy Support Specialist is to improve overall reading achievement in the school. The responsibilities include teaching, coaching, and leading school reading programs. This person will serve as a teacher for students experiencing reading difficulties and as a reading or literacy resource for teachers. The LS Literacy Support Specialist reports to the Director of the Center for Learning and Teaching, in consultation with the Lower School Principal. This is a 10.5 month, full-time instructional support position for which the start date is August 1, 2017.
The minimum qualifications for this job include 3 years of previous teaching experience and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, reading and writing education, or related field. A master's degree with a concentration in reading and writing education is preferred. Experience with a multisensory reading program (Orton Gillingham, Wilson, Lindamood-Bell or similar training) is required.
