All Saints’ Episcopal Day School is seeking to hire an energetic and effective middle school social studies teacher who loves ancient history and modern government and can make history come alive for students both in and outside of the classroom. Successful candidates are able to teach students how to understand concepts as well as help students develop strong thinking, writing, and analytical skills. Candidates should be comfortable with integrating technology such as iPads into their work with students. Inspiring kids to love the study of history as a way to understand our past and make connections with current events today
Planning, developing, and executing lessons that reflect the School’s curriculum in collaboration with other middle school social studies teachers
Evaluating each student’s progress in social studies knowledge and skills, and communicating that assessment with students and parents to promote growth
Providing group and individual instruction to motivate students, and effectively utilizing the time available for instructional activities
Providing and maintaining and an effective, motivating, and stimulating learning environment
Employing a variety of methodologies in teaching and instructing students, including the use of technology, individual and collaborative projects, discussions, and lectures
Assigning, evaluating, and providing feedback to students on appropriate classwork, homework, and assessments
Establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior inside and outside the classroom
Supporting the culture of the School by following school guidelines and encouraging students to follow the All Saints’ Way
Maintaining student records as prescribed by the School
Communicating with parents about their children’s academic and social progress
Coordinating with colleagues and administrators to identify and effectively address student issues
Other duties as assigned by administrators
Additional Salary Information: Salary negotiable, with years of experience and educational level considerations. Credit for full-time teaching experience is one-year credit for one-year teaching, etc.
