Founded in 1978 in Putney, VT, Greenwood School is the premier school for young men, grades 6 through 12, who have learning, attention and executive function challenges. Dean of Students
The Greenwood School seeks a full-time Dean of Students to begin July 1, 2017. The Dean of Students reports directly to the Head of School, and works closely with the leadership team, students, faculty, staff and parents. The Dean of students plays a central role in monitoring student’s needs and achievements, organizing campus life and communicating with all stake holders.
Helping students reach their full potential through commitment, creativity and enthusiasm
Overseeing behavior management and advising
Working collaboratively to develop and implement school wide programs that reinforce accountability, school culture, values and participation
Providing daily written updates to faculty and staff to insure consistent communication and accountability regarding student’s daily progress
Overseeing and facilitating communication between faculty, staff and parents
Scheduling of daily activities, teacher duties, special events, transportation, airport runs
Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, and conduct
Collaboratively administering and developing a school wide Tiered/behavioral system
Enthusiastic commitment to facilitating positive school culture
Resolution of discipline problems in a fair and just manner
In charge of safety and emergency preparedness
An in depth understanding of adolescents who have learning disabilities/complex learning profiles
Superior executive skills and the ability to work with a high level of consistency and integrity
Leadership experience in a school setting
An advanced degree (masters level) in education or counseling
Highly developed communication skills both verbal and written
The Greenwood School, located in Putney, VT, and founded in 1978, is a boarding and day school for middle and high school boys who have been diagnosed with: dyslexia; specific language-based learning disabilities / learning differences (LD); receptive language and/or expressive language deficits; executive functioning deficits; attentional difficulties (ADD or ADHD); disorders of written expressio...n; dysgraphia; or speech and language needs. In fact, a combination of these learning disabilities / learning differences (LD) are often clustered together in most Greenwood students’ learning profiles. The Greenwood School believes that education and development is important in and out of the formal classroom, and that the residential portion of school life is fundamental in student development.
