Position overview: Park City Day School, a small, independent PS-Grade 8 school located in Park City, UT, seeks an experienced, creative, and energetic educator to join our Lower School team as Kindergarten Lead Teacher.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead a homeroom classroom of approximately 15-18 students
Instruct students in literacy, social studies, and math utilizing Words Their Way spelling resources, writing workshop and 6+1 traits of writing models, and TERC Investigations math program
Prepare appropriate weekly lesson plans including instructional objectives, planned activities, cross-curricular integration, assessment, and resources
Regularly review/update curriculum guide to ensure appropriate instructional priorities, pacing and coordination with divisional progress in each academic area
Implement effective classroom management procedures to create a classroom atmosphere that promotes joyful learning, nurtures age-appropriate development of social-emotional skills, and establishes a welcoming, collaborative classroom culture, consistent with our school’s mission. Training in the Responsive Classroom approach is an advantage
Use technology tools and resources (Smartboard,, iPads, Google Apps, online resources, school-specific software) to enhance, differentiate, innovate, and extend instruction
Participate in the school community including weekly faculty meetings, professional development meetings, recess and before care duties as assigned, as well as special events
Communicate regularly with families, returning phone calls/emails in a timely manner, posting weekly updates to online classroom community, and frequent conferencing with parents regarding student progress

Demonstrated knowledge of developmental characteristics of age level taught

A minimum of a college bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree preferred
A minimum of three years teaching experience is strongly preferred
