The Development Director implements the mission statement approved by the Board of Trustees and, as a member of the administrative team, contributes to the operational and strategic leadership of the school. The Development Director is responsible for working with the Head of School and the Board of Trustees to create a long-term fundraising program and related communications plan. Key responsibilities include annual giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, and endowment fundraising. The Development Director will also manage donor relations, identify new prospects, oversee foundation proposals and create all materials related to fundraising and donor relations. Additionally, as necessary, the Development Director will assume all secretarial and managerial responsibility for all development office endeavors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide leadership and technical support for all fundraising activities and events.
Educate parents, faculty, and alumni on the importance of giving.
Research, identify, cultivate and solicit major and annual gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations.
Work with The Carey School Parents Association on all fundraising projects.
Work with the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Provide analysis of relevant development office data for the Head of School, CFO, and Board of Trustees.
Grow endowment funds with the Head of School and the Board of Trustees.
Develop relationships with foundations that fund school programs.
Oversee production of all development communication collateral.
Oversee all development office mailings.
ANNUAL GIVING / MAJOR GIFTS / CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
Maintain accurate records for all fundraising, pledges and matching gifts.
Manage all gift pledge processing and acknowledgment functions.
Manage billing of all donors for outstanding pledges.
Produce all solicitation letters and pledge reminders.
Process checks, gifts or stock.
Generate reports related to fundraising management and tracking.
