Position Title: Director of Development Department:Administration

This position is responsible for leading the school’s development program as adopted by the Board of Trustees and the Head of School through cultivation/stewardship of multiple constituents in the school community.
The director works closely with the Board of Trustees, the Head of School, various leaders throughout the school community and the Parents’ Association. This position is an external liaison to the school’s donors and is called upon to serve on internal committees developed throughout the school year.
Plan, develop, implement and educate the school community on the strategy and plans for all aspects of the development program including fundraising, major gift donations, and capital campaign.
Oversee all aspects of the annual fund including solicitations, funding goals, annual theme, materials, communication, and calendar
Broaden the donor base with new individual and foundation prospects
Assist the Head of School with the creation of the agenda and materials for Board meetings
Identify key volunteers to serve on the annual fund cabinet and facilitate annual fund training and workshops each year
Oversee all fundraising and special events activities across all constituencies which includes: capital campaigns, special projects, endowment campaigns, and other school-related events
Create donor profiles and maintain accurate and updated files related to major donors, which include stewardship materials, cultivation plans, and solicitations
Coordinate gift processing, reporting, and reconciliation with the Business Office
Prepare all grant requests, acknowledgements, and reporting to foundation donors
Cultivate effective relations and engagement opportunities with the alumni and grandparent constituencies to ensure growth and sustainability with these groups
Assist the Director of Communications with correspondence related to the development office
Supervise the Assistant Director of Development and volunteer staff, and provide training, scheduling, and performance management
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
Exposed to noise up to 25% of the day
Education, Experience, Skills:
A Master’s Degree required, with a minimum of three to five years experience (independent school experience preferred). Must be a strategic thinker, who is detail oriented, highly organized,and an effective communicator with excellent writing skills. Proven success in soliciting gifts at the $50,000 level. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge.

Additional Salary Information: Salary will be negotiated based on experience
