Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship
Gilman School is seeking a Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship. Reporting to the Director of Advancement Services, this position will be responsible for the administration of the School’s donor recognition and stewardship program including, but not limited to, the coordination of all donor recognition events for major prospects and donors; development and management of a comprehensive stewardship program for Major Gifts and the School’s named endowment funds; and integration and management of a stewardship tracking processes. As a key member of the Advancement Services Team, the Director will coordinate with the office to develop individualized stewardship plans for donors, volunteers, and giving society members. Emphasis will be placed on creating meaningful stewardship opportunities for Gilman’s most loyal supporters.
The Director will serve as a writer for the Development Team and Campaign. These writings include, but are not limited to, proposals, high-level donor correspondence, MOU’s, acknowledgements for the campaign and other fundraising efforts, campaign materials, grants, solicitation letters and endowment reports. The Director will work with the Special Events Coordinator to plan and execute the Campaign Kick-Off event, stewardship events and other activities as assigned.
The Director will serve as a senior member of the leadership team of the Development Office. The successful candidate will be a goal-oriented, strategic, creative, innovative thinker who demonstrates strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and must have strong organizational and analytical abilities; be able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting myriad deadlines; possess a strong sense of personal and professional integrity with the ability to exercise autonomy and accept responsibility.
In addition, the Director must be able to work independently, while consulting with his or her supervisor on a consistent basis; must demonstrate capacity to make sound recommendations in a fluid environment; be willing and able to work with, and cooperate with, faculty and staff at all levels and serve as an integral part of the entire Gilman School team. The candidate must be able to exercise diplomacy and confidentiality; work with tight deadlines; and produce first-rate, highly accurate work with meticulous attention to detail. The candidate needs to be able to use a Raiser’s Edge development database to query and export comprehensive data related to all aspects of the Gilman School fundraising program for analysis.
