The Kinkaid School is seeking an enthusiastic Teacher with a passion for students to serve as a Middle School Science Teacher starting August 2017.
The Middle School Science teacher must be able to teach all levels of Middle School science to a total of approximately 75 students. The teachers will advise a small group of students and be a member of one or more grade level teams. Kinkaid teachers enjoy a supportive teaching environment focused on collegiality and academic excellence. Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring a club or coaching a sport. This is contingent upon the candidate’s interest and skill set as well as the School’s needs.
A Bachelor’s degree in science or pedagogy with an emphasis on science education (Master’s degree preferred)
A minimum of three years of experience teaching science to middle school children.
Proven understanding and ability to teach Nature of Science, Scientific Methods, in addition to the Middle School Science Content
Ability to incorporate inquiry into instructional strategies to create student centered problem solving approach to learning
Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Docs, Spreadsheet
Familiarity with Logger Pro or Graphical Analysis preferred
Core knowledge of development of middle school age children
Core knowledge about research-based practices for effective instruction of the middle school age learner
A passion for and experience with integrating technology into the curriculum to serve the needs of all learners
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
