Palm Beach Day Academy, established in 1921, is an independent coeducational school, serving 450 students from age 2 to Grade 9, on two campuses. The foundation of PBDA’s program is the education of our students in an academically challenging and compassion-rich environment that guides each child toward personal excellence of mind, body and character. At all levels, our students will be, as our mission states, challenged to excel, ?empowered to act?, and prepared to lead. The Upper Campus, which houses Grades 4-9 seeks a Physical Education teacher/Coach for the 2017-2018 school year.
The ideal candidate will assume professional responsibility for providing a positive learning experience in Physical Education and sports. Strong candidates will have independent school experience in the classroom as well as with following sports: volleyball, flag football, basketball, soccer and lacrosse. While knowledge of the activity or sport is important, this faculty member will be able to communicate and demonstrate the skills to the students properly.
Our program is unique in that all sports classes are during the school day. 6th-9th grade games are twice a week. While PBDA seeks a candidate who can plan and develop a quality program for the sports we offer, the incoming faculty member will be a role model for our student-athletes; we believe the students must understand the importance of good sportsmanship and teamwork.
Additional duties typically include advising, sponsoring a club or activity and participating in faculty meetings and professional development.
Flexibility, creativity, a sense of humor, and a strong work ethic are all critically important.
All applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree and a concentration in Physical Education, a passion for working with children. For more information, visit our website at www.pbday.org.
Interested candidates should email a cover letter, resume, and at least three references to Sarah Kemeness, Head of Upper School, at email@example.com.
