Westtown School is seeking a Technical Theater Intern for the 2017-2018 school year. The successful candidate will work closely with the Technical Director/Theater Manager in the production of a performing arts program that serves a Pre-K through 12th grade community.
Main duties include serving as lighting designer and sound supervisor for the three play Upper School season, the upper and middle school dance program, and all middle and lower school theater and music performances. The intern will also assist the Technical Director with the supervision of the Scenic Arts Design co-curricular and light and Audio Design club. Opportunities to teach or co-teach classes on collaboration and theater arts may be available.
All interns will have dorm parent responsibilities in the Upper School, working as a member of the residential faculty on one of our halls. Dorm parents are on duty one night each week and one out of four weekends.
Interns will be involved in other aspects of school life including regular attendance at Meeting of Worship and divisional, department, or grade level meetings.
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field and have experience with lighting design and execution with preference given to candidates with a sound design background as well. Experience with scene or costume design and construction a plus. An interest in collaboration and action-based learning is essential. Early career teachers and designers are encouraged to apply.
