Assistant Director of Innovation + Design - 2017-2018 Advertisement
The Assistant Director of Innovation + Design is a supportive, collaborative, visionary educator who brings a growth mindset and strong communication skills, as well as a sense of joy and humor to the work that she/he does. The Assistant Director will observe, inspire, motivate, empower, facilitate, actively develop, and provide curricular, pedagogical, technical, and logistical support to teachers. Your primary duties will be to:
Work alongside teachers in the Middle School and High School to co-design student-centered, inquiry-based lessons, projects, and experiences which support the curriculum they are already teaching
Build a culture of student-centered learning across the school community
The Innovation + Design program at St. Martin’s supports student-centered learning across the entire school PK-12 through fostering the development of critical skills and mindsets, including collaboration, empathy, and creative problem-solving. This past year, St. Martin’s expanded the I+D program with the construction of a first-class makerspace known as the Center for Innovation + Design.
Candidates must have a strong belief in the mission, vision, and core values of St. Martin’s and the Innovation + Design program; have at least 5 years of experience teaching Middle School and/or High School using Project-Based Learning, Competency-Based Learning, Design Thinking, and/or other student-centered approaches; be able to collaborate effectively with Middle School and High School teachers across all subject areas. Experience with curriculum design and/or instructional coaching or experience as Director of Curriculum or Dean of Faculty is preferred.
