Pilgrim School, a division of the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles, is an ethnically and culturally diverse, co-educational day school for students preschool through the twelfth grade, and a boarding school for students in grades 9 -12.
The School’s mission is to provide a superior interdisciplinary education, designed to enable students to attain the skills necessary to become self-suf...ficient, creative and independent thinkers, as well as responsible, ethical and socially conscious citizens.
Founded in 1958 and governed by a 15-member Board of Governors, Pilgrim School is the only pre-school through 12th grade school in the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS), which shares a campus with the Church.
A significant number of students who attend Pilgrim are first-generation independent school students, including a percentage of them who are not native English speakers. Pilgrim assumes that all students are capable of learning if they are in a caring and nurturing environment and so, unlike many other independent schools, they take a chance by accepting these students and provide them with a traditional college preparatory school education. Unlike the national average of 22%, 55% percent of Pilgrim’s graduates go on to study math or science based curriculum.
