The Logan School for Creative Learning was founded in 1989 with the mission of providing an experience-based educational opportunity for gifted children of all backgrounds that allows each child to develop individually to her/his full potential. The school enrolls approximately 245 students from four through fourteen years of age. The core of our program features individual student units. Unit topics are chosen by each student and the teacher then helps design an individual unit of study.

Direct Supervisor: Head of School
The primary duties of the Learning Specialist are to:
Support student learning for a gifted population
Serve as a resource to teachers and families
Coordinate meetings to facilitate specific learning accommodations and modifications
Attend parent conferences and team meetings as needed
Coordinate outside learning specialists and tutors
Maintain confidential student records
Identify professional development opportunities for the faculty and parent education
Preferred Qualities and Qualifications:
An undergraduate and/or graduate degree in special education or related field.
Previous experience as a learning specialist
Orton Gillingham or similar training
Diagnostic training in reading, math and/or learning differences
Effective communication skills
Ability to work in a team
Excellent organizational skills
Familiarity with the needs of gifted students and the challenges faced by twice- exceptional students, including occupational and sensory needs.
A sense of humor
