The Director / Associate Director of Admissions—Middle & Upper School is primarily responsible for supporting the Ranney Advancement Team in the recruitment and enrollment of mission-appropriate students. The Director/Associate Director is a member of the Advancement Team and is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of the admissions process for the Upper and Middle Schools, as well as helping for coordinating the process for admitting international students. Title and compensation commensurate with experience.
Coordinate and manage all aspects of the Admission process for Upper and Middle School applicants including initial inquiry, application processing, scheduling test dates and interviews, communicating with families, coordinating decisions and enrollment, and scheduling placement tests.
Select SSAT test dates and secure proctors for test dates.
Collaborate with the Associate Director for Admissions of Lower School with all aspects of the application process.
Establish a regular schedule for small group campus tours and conduct group/individual tours as needed.
Manage regular communication with faculty and staff regarding student visitors and admission events.
Represent the Admission Office at all recruitment events as well as at other on and off campus events throughout the year.
Ensure systematic and efficient handling of applications and communications with candidates and their parents.
Ensure smooth transition of new students by making connections with Division Heads, Department Chairs, and other Advancement Team members.
Plan and execute Open Houses, Winter Accepted Students Reception, and Spring Orientation.
In partnership with the International Coordinator, help manage the process for admitting international students including scheduling group tours, scheduling interviews, managing components of the application, and taking students through the admissions process.
Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for SEVIS.
Advise prospective, new and continuing international students regarding student visa process, maintaining F-1 status, and other related topics.
Collaborate with administrative staff to use SEVIS to create and maintain student immigration records including: initial SEVIS record, transfers in and out, extensions, medical leave, and leaves of absence.
Develop a full understanding of all issues related to international student regulations and requirements as set forth by the Department of Homeland Security, Student Exchange and Visitor Program.
Evaluate and research foreign credentials, educational systems and trends in international student mobility.
Research and evaluate opportunities to partner with third-party companies for marketing and support services (e.g. housing, student health insurance, agencies, etc.).
Collaborate with Upper School Division Heads and Senior Administration to determine ideal number of International Students to be admitted per class and to ensure the appropriate academic support is available to incoming international students.
Maintain Admission Blackbaud/Onboard database records and generate reports when required.
Contribute to the Admissions Dashboard – tracking new applicant and re-enrollment status, probability of enrollment and other key metrics.
Maintain and process all applications and online admissions requirements through Stand Application Online (SAO) Portal.
Track and maintain Admission forms and paperwork.
Retention and Re-Enrollment
Serve as a liaison with the Division Heads to share information about families’ experience with the school. Assist in tracking enrollment of both current students and new applicants.
Assist with the creation of a school-wide retention plan and strategic vision for re-enrollment.
Attend Open House events, New Parent Nights, Orientations, and enrollment events.
Periodically attend school-related events to stay connected with families and children.
Visit classrooms and identify opportunities to connect with school life.
Other Administrative Duties
Collaborate with Upper and Middle School Division Heads and Advancement Team to develop an Admissions Ambassador program to engage Upper School students in Admissions activities (Open Houses and tours).
Keep abreast of best practices in Admissions to determine opportunities to streamline and improve Admissions processes.
As an Admissions Team, continually review outcomes of Admissions events and activities to identify potential changes in strategy for future events.
Attend meetings as required with Advancement Director, Admissions Team, Division Heads and Leadership Team.
Prepare Admission Office correspondence.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Advancement.
Educational background and teaching experience preferred.
Appropriate judgment in complex interactions with students, families, and other professionals.
