Cardigan Mountain School Summer Session, an academic and recreational summer program for boys and girls in grades 3 through 9, seeks an English as a Second Language (ESL) educator to teach English to our international student population during our six-week summer program.
The aim of Cardigan’s ESL program is to increase each students’ English fluency and confidence for use in academic and social settings.
Each course features small and highly interactive classes focused on reading, writing, speaking, listening, and study abroad preparation. Our courses are designed to support students who already have at least beginner-level abilities in written and spoken English as they move towards deeper proficiency of the language. Students learn by reading a variety of texts, practicing conversational English, composing written materials, giving presentations, and watching films.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Teaching a full course load.
Facilitating one of two afternoon activity periods.
Supervising a dormitory floor (accommodation is provided).
Participating in our Saturday morning electives program.
Serving as an advisor to students.
Attending meals and helping monitor our dining room.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
An interest in participating in a residential program.
