Stoneleigh-Burnham School, an independent boarding and day school for girls, grades 7-12, located in Greenfield, Massachusetts, seeks a highly energetic and enthusiastic full-time Dance Instructor, effective August 2017. Stoneleigh-Burnham School is committed to excellence in teaching and holds high standards for its faculty. Applicants should be committed to single-sex education and be interested in making a positive impact on the lives of adolescent girls. Candidates who can contribute to the cultural and ethnic diversity of the community are encouraged to apply.
All full-time teachers also serve as an advisor to a small group of students, as well as a houseparent if resident faculty.
The teacher will teach beginning to advanced classes, including the two-level course in our International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program. The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree and previous experience in teaching multiple styles of dance, including modern, hip hop and ballet. IB training is desired but not mandatory; the School supports IB training of its faculty across the program. The successful candidate will possess and transmit a deep love for dance and be a team player who works well with colleagues within and beyond the performing arts department.
Classes may include academic day courses in Middle School Dance, Dance Performance Project (by invitation only) and Pointe, IB Dance 1 and IB Dance 2, as well as athletic options in Beginning Dance and Advanced Dance. The School also runs a Community Dance program once a week. The sum of these classes is not the sole responsibility of this one person; other dance instructors work in the department part-time. There is the possibility of being involved in our summer dance camp as well.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
