Starting Fall 2017, Saddle River Day school is seeking a full time teacher to teach 7th and 8th grade science and to offer a middle or upper school elective. The integrated curriculum is primarily physical and earth sciences although it incorporates chemical and biological topics as well. There is room in the middle school science curriculum to incorporate principles of engineering and computer programming. SRDS science classes are inquiry based emphasizing design based thinking and student problem solving. Students are very active and engaged in their learning and are supported in demonstrating their understanding in a variety of ways.
A full time middle school teacher is also an academic advisor for 8-10 students and is fully involved in the co-curricular opportunities for students such as being a club mentor and chaperoning field trips.
Saddle River Day teachers are dynamic individuals who are dedicated to designing relevant and engaging instructional plans for their early adolescent aged students. The middle school team of teachers engages in curriculum design and revision and plans interdisciplinary units of study together.
The successful candidate will integrate technology into their teaching and enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues and students.
