Summary: Promotes the mission and vision of Mercy High School through athletic programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but not limited to:
Supervision of Coaches
Interviews all prospective coaches when job openings occur and recommends them to the Assistant Head of School for Mission
Ensures that all employment requirements are met prior to first day of coaching
Keeps open communications between all coaches--heads and assistants
Directs coaches in properly filling out timesheets; responsible for approving and giving timesheets to business office in a timely manner
Develops job descriptions for all coaches
Supervises and evaluates all coaches and Spirit Squad Moderator
Supervision of Athletes
Verifies eligibility of all athletes with Assistant Head of School of Academics and the Director of Student Life
Creates and maintains records of all medical, codes of conduct and permission forms for all members of Mercy High School's athletic teams
Meets with counselor of students having academic or discipline problems at the time progress reports are issued
Arranges and communicates early dismissals from classes for all athletes when appropriate
Coordinates purchasing, distribution, collection, cleaning and maintenance of team uniforms
Coordinates the ordering of awards for athletes and assistants
Coordinates usage and maintenance of school vans
Supervises or coordinates supervision for all athletic events
Facility and Venue Coordination
Coordinates gymnasium facilities for basketball and volleyball practices and games
Secures locations for all sport practices and competitions not occurring on campus
Oversees scheduling of all basketball, softball, tennis, soccer, swimming, cross country and volleyball games and matches, track and field meets, both pre-season as well as league games and matches
Coordinates gymnasium use with Rental Coordinator
Manage and balance the athletic budget for all school sports
Moderates the Boosters' Club
Presents all fundraising proposals to the Chief Advancement Officer and/or Director of Advancement for approval
Is a member in good-standing of WBAL Board of Managers and attends all meetings
Works with members of the WBAL to coordinate and organize league events
Schedules referees for all athletic events
With the Summer Program Director coordinates summer sports camps
Dedication to the mission of Mercy High School and charism of the Sisters of Mercy.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Familiarity with private school law preferred.
Minimum three years of urban school-based experience preferred
Experience in directing an athletic program, preferably in an all-girls school
Flexibility, sensitivity, diplomacy and the outstanding interpersonal skills necessary to work collaboratively with multiple constituencies required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as attention to detail required.
Must be comfortable using and exploring technology and software
