Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy is a Catholic, Dominican, independent college-preparatory high school whose mission is to educate young women for a life of faith, integrity and truth. We are currently seeking an Art teacher to cover for a maternity leave of absence. The assignment is set to begin in early May, 2017 and will last through the 2017-2018 academic year. The Art teacher will oversee basic, intermediate and advanced art classes for high school students as. The courses include basic drawing and painting that allow students to build a portfolio of work. The teacher will teach the Yearbook course and serve as the Art Club moderator. Candidates must be willing to teach multiple projects within the class as well as follow a pre-set curriculum. Collaboration on new projects is welcome. Candidates must be proficient in most mediums, especially painting (water color, acrylic, oil paint) and drawing (pencil, color pencil, color pastels, oil pastels, charcoal) and will be well-versed in Photoshop for teaching digital work.

In addition to developing and delivering an intentionally designed curriculum dedicated to teaching and learning in a supportive and collegial atmosphere, our faculty shares out on best practices and instructional technology strategies via blogs, small group learning sessions, and visits to each other’s classrooms.
