Community School is seeking a dynamic Upper School Theater/Drama Teacher. This
part-time position would include teaching a variety of drama, theater, and related courses, directing two performances per year, and being an active member of Community School’s Creative Arts Academy. This is a three-quarters position, with partial benefits, beginning August 14, 2017. Additional duties may include serving as a student advisor and participating in the school’s extensive Outdoor Program. For the right candidate, the position could also include boarding program responsibilities and housing.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability and desire to work within a collaborative, inquiry-based educational program, which also incorporates 21st century fluencies blended with fundamental skills. Above all, the successful candidate must love education, theater, and demonstrate an engaged, energetic, and passionate approach to students and teaching.
Candidates should understand and embrace the unique Community School culture of a small independent school in a mountain resort town. He/she will be an experienced educator or youth theater director with a deep understanding of the developmental range within the Upper School population, but also supportive of the school’s “one school” philosophy across divisions. The ideal candidate will have a healthy sense of humor, be flexible in his/her approach, and find joy in this/her work. He/she should be an organized and creative individual who motivates and inspires students to achieve their personal best, works collaboratively with faculty, and communicates clearly with parents.
