Miss Porter’s School seeks an experienced Science Teacher with a minimum of three years secondary school experience, preferably in an independent school community. The successful candidate will be able to teach all levels of Physics, including AP Physics C, and other science electives such as Astronomy or Engineering. The ability to lead student teams in Robotics and Science Olympiad is also preferred, as is experienced with 3D printing and 3D modeling software such as SketchUp. A BA is required; MA is preferred.
Classroom responsibilities involve 4 or 5 courses per academic year, and faculty members are expected to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school and share some dormitory and residential school responsibilities. Qualifications for all teaching positions, therefore, include a demonstrated interest in coaching or coordinating extra-curricular activities and a willingness to fulfill evening and weekend duties.
Candidates must have the ability to successfully integrate the use of technology in their teaching and practice current teaching methodologies. Candidates should also be passionate about pedagogy and collaborative work and be willing to work closely with colleagues on departmental objectives.
